The Turks & Caicos Aggressor II offers weekly liveaboards in the pristine waters of the Turks and Caicos Islands and welcomes up to 18 divers in 9 comfortable en-suite cabins.

All cabins are located on the lower deck. There is a choice of one master cabin with a queen-size bed, six deluxe cabins with a lower double bed and an upper single bed and two twin cabins with bunk beds.

From January to April, the Turks & Caicos Aggressor II moves its operations to the Dominican Republic to offer a very special experience: snorkelling with humpback whales in the protected region of Silver Bank. This marine refuge is an important retreat for the humpback whales of the North Atlantic, which gather there to mate, calve and raise their young.

Whether you choose the Caribbean dive sites or the whale encounter, a voyage on the Turks & Caicos Aggressor II promises a unique and unforgettable adventure.

Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style, while dinner is served at the table. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are included. The upper deck invites you to relax with a partially covered sun deck, deckchairs, comfortable seating areas, a whirlpool, wet bar and a barbecue area.

The 7-night tours take place between April and December and lead to breathtaking dive sites with dramatic drop-offs, intact coral reefs and a rich underwater world. Divers can encounter reef sharks, eagle rays, angelfish, lobsters, snappers and many other sea creatures.

Extras for the itinerary: Taxes/fees/transfers: A bed tax of 110 USD is payable on board. US$625 for whale sanctuary access and harbour fee is payable on board and US$200 of this fee must be paid in CASH at the end of the week. Professional photographers and videographers must pay an additional fee to the whale sanctuary.

The beautiful TURKS & CAICOS AGGRESSOR II offers guests a week of exciting wall diving along the coasts of Providenciales, West Caicos and French Caye. The steep walls of Providenciales begin at 40 feet and plunge into the deep blue abyss, encompassing crevices and ledges adorned with giant orange elephant ear sponges, gorgonians, purple rope sponges and abundant macro life. The itinerary starts from April to December in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands.

The Turks and Caicos Islands consist of 40 islands and islets, eight of which are inhabited.

Example of an itinerary

Day 1: Arrival/embarkation/departure

Guests will be met at Providenciales International Airport (PLS) by a staff member in uniform and transferred to the yacht. Guests can board the yacht on Saturday between 4 and 6 pm. At 6pm the yacht will depart for its overnight anchorage in preparation for the Sunday morning dive.

Day 2-7: Diving days

Top dive sites:

  • French Cay - Double D - Simply the Garden of Eden. The wall is overgrown and marine life is abundant. Two huge coral mounds are teeming with fish. A resident spotted scorpion fish often poses for photographers. Spotted eagle rays are often seen here.

  • French Cay - G-Spot - An absolutely beautiful wall with many huge deep-sea gorgonians and orange-coloured elephant ear sponges growing on the edge of the wall.

  • French Cay - Rock'n'Roll - The top of the wall is at 40 feet. Lots of barrel sponges, elkhorn and column corals. Juvenile barracuda and lobster were spotted throughout the day. This is a great afternoon and night dive.

  • French Cay - West Sand Spit - (5 miles south of French Cay) The wall starts at 40 feet and is covered with huge coral formations - column corals, barrel sponges and deep sea gorgonians. Keep an eye out for nurse sharks, French angels, triggerfish and giant stingrays. This site is weather dependent.

  • Northwest Point - Black Coral Forest - The walls start at 45 feet and drop off to under 300 feet. There is an overhang where at least 5 species of black coral grow. The base of the overhang is at 75 feet.

  • Northwest Point - Shark Hotel - Named for the Caribbean reef sharks that sometimes cruise the wall. The wall slopes down at 90 feet in a plateau covered with plate coral. At 100 feet, a chimney cuts through the reef and exits the deep wall at 130 feet. Lots of column corals on top of the wall.

  • Northwest Tip - The Crack - The wall doglegs to the south forming a huge penny slot crack where divers can swim and exit at any time. A massive barrel sponge with an anemone above is located at 85 feet. Swim to the south where you may encounter schooling fish and a native turtle.

  • Northwest Point - The Dome - Once the site of a game show on French television, this sunken dome offers a spectacular night dive.

  • West Caicos - Entrance - One of the most diverse dive sites along the West Caicos. Located in 35 feet of water, the boat offers the option of swimming to the wall via the entrance, a large sand chute, or travelling along the wall in shallower water where there are many interesting isolated coral heads. Anemones grow in just 5-10 feet of water.

  • West Caicos - Canyons - Swim through a penny slot channel that starts at 45 feet and ends at 75 feet. Beautiful sponge formations on the edge of the wall and schooling fish on the wall.

  • West Caicos - Rock Garden Interlude - The wall is divided into sections with large and beautiful sponge formations. Encounter friendly turtles and spotted scorpionfish. The sandy area at the top of the wall has several beautiful coral heads and garden eels.

  • West Caicos - The Anchor/Whiteface - Called Whiteface because of the white sand cliffs along the West Caicos. Swim through a canyon with a 17th century anchor wedged into the north side of the canyon. A beautiful, large white anemone sits at about 95 feet at the bottom of the ravine. Look out for the resident reef shark, which is not camera shy. Great night dive with lobsters, octopus and nurse sharks.

After the full dive, the yacht returns to Caicos Marina & Shipyard on Friday after lunch. On Friday evening there will be a sunset cocktail party on the yacht. There are several restaurants in Provo where you can dine. Dinner on Friday evening is not included in the charter price.

Day 8: Check-out is Saturday at 8 am. Return transport to the airport will be arranged on Saturday morning.

Marine life: Steep walls with healthy corals, orange elephant ear sponges, grey reef sharks, angelfish, eagle rays, horse-eye trevallies, lobsters, snappers, garden eels, nurse sharks and lots of macro life.

The last dive takes place on the penultimate day of the trip. Divers are advised to wait 24 hours after the last dive before flying.

The Turks and Caicos Islands are located in the Atlantic Ocean south-east of the Bahamas and north-east of Hispaniola (Haiti/Dominican Republic).

They consist of two island groups:

Caicos Islands (the larger ones, e.g. Providenciales, North Caicos, Middle Caicos
Turks Islands (smaller, e.g. Grand Turk, Salt Cay)
The islands are a British Overseas Territory with British Crown, but self-government in many areas.

Population

About 45,000 inhabitants, mainly on Providenciales (called "Provo") and Grand Turk.
Ethnically dominated by Afro-Caribbean population.
Strong immigration of labour from Haiti, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and increasingly also expats from the USA, Canada and Europe.

Religions, mostly Christian, especially:

Anglicans
Methodists
Baptists
Religion plays an important role in society, Sundays are traditionally "holy".

Economic situation

Tourism is by far the most important economic sector, followed by offshore financial services.
The islands are considered a luxury destination, especially for guests from the USA and Canada.
No income tax, which also makes them economically attractive for foreigners.
High cost of living, strong dependence on imports.

Importance for the overseas territory

The islands are one of the wealthier Caribbean regions, particularly due to high-priced tourism.
Little industry, hardly any agriculture - the focus is clearly on the service sector.
Also important as a cruise destination (especially Grand Turk).

Economic influence of the diving industry

The TCI are considered a first-class diving area - with clear water, steep walls, coral reefs and high visibility.
Main attractions:

Wall diving (e.g. at Grand Turk, French Cay, West Caicos

Big fish sightings (including hammerhead sharks, turtles, eagle rays)
Whales and dolphins (especially humpback whales between January and March)

Diving tourism brings:

High-quality guests who book longer stays and diving packages
Good employment opportunities in diving centres, hotels, boat services, restaurants
Economic dependence on a small but affluent target group

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important, but there are challenges due to construction projects and increasing visitor numbers

Why the Turks and Caicos Islands are a favourite destination for divers

Crystal-clear water with visibility of up to 40 metres
Spectacular walls (drop-offs up to 2000 metres deep near the coast)
Intact reefs and protected areas, e.g. national parks and marine reserves
Less crowded - no mass tourism, rather exclusive
Year-round diving opportunities - best conditions usually from November to May
Luxury diving resorts and liveaboards for upmarket target groups
