Belize Exploration - Lighthouse Reef, Half Moon Cay, and Turneffe Ree - 8D/7N

Guests will be met by a crew member in uniform at Belize City (BZE) International Airport and taken to the yachts. Guests can board the yacht on Saturdays between 3 and 6 pm. At 6pm the yacht will depart for its overnight anchorage to prepare for diving on Sunday morning. After a full week of diving, the Belize Aggressor III or IV returns to the Radisson Ft. George docks in Belize City on Friday afternoon after lunch. Check-out is Saturday morning at 8am. Return transport to Belize City International Airport is Saturday morning.

Belize is a paradise for wall divers. Transparent walls such as Painted Wall, Half Moon Caye Wall and Quebrada are adorned with huge purple gorgonians and giant orange elephant ear sponges. Moray eels, lobsters and tiny arrow crabs hide in every crack, crevice, cave and tunnel of these beautiful coral formations. These are just some of the things you'll see at Lighthouse Reef, Half Moon Cay and Turneffe Reef.

Every Saturday at 6pm, the luxurious Belize Aggressor departs from the docks of the Radisson Ft. George for a week of hassle-free diving to Lighthouse Reef, Half Moon Cay and the famous Blue Hole in the heart of downtown Belize City. The mystical Blue Hole, a collapsed freshwater cave system, is approximately 1000 feet in diameter and over 400 feet deep. The Blue Hole was made famous by marine pioneer Jacques-Yves Cousteau, who declared it one of the top ten dive sites in the world. In 1971, he brought his ship, the Calypso, to the Blue Hole to map its depths. After descending into the Blue Hole, guests will see beautiful vertical stalactite formations.

Onboard diving in Belize begins on Sunday morning and ends on Friday before lunch when the Belize Aggressor III or IV returns to harbour. From Sunday to Thursday there will be unlimited diving all day and a night dive each evening. Friday offers a half day of diving. A trip to this Central American paradise is not complete without a visit to the Mayan ruins of Belize, a cave tubing trip through the jungle or a canopy tour through the treetops. Tours are offered on Friday afternoons, but a longer stay is recommended to fully enjoy the wonders of Belize and its corner of the Caribbean. On Saturday, enjoy complimentary use of the Radisson Ft. George Hotel's pool and bar area.

Belize - A tropical jewel in the Caribbean

Belize is located on the east coast of Central America and borders Mexico to the north, Guatemala to the west and south and the Caribbean Sea to the east. The country covers around 22,970 square kilometres, making it one of the smaller countries in the region. The coast of Belize is famous for the Belize Barrier Reef, the second largest coral reef in the world, as well as for a large number of small islands (cayes), which are popular tourist destinations.

Climate

Belize has a tropical climate with two main seasons: a rainy season from June to November and a dry season from December to May. Temperatures are warm all year round and range between 24 °C and 31 °C. Due to its location in the Caribbean, Belize is occasionally affected by hurricanes.

Inhabitants and living conditions

Belize has a relatively small population of around 400,000 people. The country is a cultural melting pot with a mixture of Mestizo, Creole, Garifuna, Mayan and European influences. Living conditions are relatively good compared to other Central American countries, although there are significant differences between urban and rural areas. Many people live from agriculture, tourism or fishing.

Economy and way of life

Belize's economy is based on tourism, agriculture and fishing. Tourism plays a crucial role, particularly through ecotourism and diving trips on the Barrier Reef. Other important economic sectors are the cultivation of sugar cane, bananas and citrus fruits as well as the export of seafood. Offshore financial services have also become increasingly important in recent years.

Religion

Most of the inhabitants of Belize are Christian. Catholicism is the most widespread, followed by Protestant denominations such as the Anglicans, Baptists and Mennonites. There is also a small but growing community of followers of other religions, including Hinduism and Islam.

Belize in the Caribbean

Although Belize is geographically located in Central America, it is often considered culturally and economically part of the Caribbean. The country is a member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and has strong cultural ties with other Caribbean states. Its unique blend of Latin American and Caribbean influences makes Belize a special destination with a relaxed, tropical atmosphere.

Belize is known for its spectacular natural wonders, including the famous Great Blue Hole, lush rainforests and historic Mayan ruins. It offers a unique combination of adventure, nature and relaxation and is a paradise for divers, nature lovers and travellers who want to enjoy the beauty of the Caribbean away from the crowded tourist spots.
